Day 59: Floor Stage II Part 2

Wednesday, 5 May 2010

As with last night this evening was spent battening out the floor, and I am now over half way across the floor. As can be seen from tonight's picture, door stops, bricks, rocks and even buckets of water were pressed into action in order to keep the battens flat to the floor whilst the glue sets.

As I mentioned last night the positioning of the battens is primarily driven by the location of the joints in and edges of the boards; I don't want any unsupported joints or edges in either ply layer. After the joints the battens are located under where the edges of furniture will hopefully occur, then finally they are positioned to give an approximately 300mm spacing between the cross battens.
