Day 139: Kitchen cabinets part 5

Saturday 24 July 2010

I finished the basic cabinet today; the front was glued on and the openings and edges routed back flush with the rest of the structure. I also cut out the work top. I had bargained on having to go to the timber yard to get some more ply but on inspection the there was sufficient in the leftovers from building the second partition for my purpose.

With the worktop blank temporarily fitted, we played around with the positioning of the combination sink and hob unit. Once we were happy with the position, I made up my template and marked out the hole. Unfortunately SMEV don't supply a cutting template, rather the handbook contains a rather complex drawing, hence the reason why I had produced my own template. Also its not just a simple hole there are tabs which are routed out to a depth of 7mm.
