Day 162 - Day 164: Folding toilet wall

Wednesday 18 August 2010

With the lack of privacy of the toilet proving a bit of an issue over the weekend, the past few days have been spent constructing the folding side wall. For those of you who are not up to speed with the conversion; through use we have discovered that the original design sidewall for the toilet would have made it extremelly difficult to get in and out of the bed. As a result the design has been changed and the sidewall is now in two pieces, one fixed which I fitted last week and one which folds back allowing access to the bed, or out to give privacy to the toilet.

As usual I have used my ladder frame sandwiched between thin ply construction technique.

On Monday I prepared the timber and glued the frame to one of the panels,  yesterday I bulked up the frame where the concealed bolts and hinges will be fitted. Then today I fitted the second panel and cleaned up all the edges.

I also made a trip Wickes today to pick up the bolts and hinges, unfortunately as I suspected they didn't have the bifold door gear that they have on their website. So it looks like I need to make a trip to B&Q where they have them in stock.
