However by the time I got back home I just didn't feel up to working on the van, it seems that despite my best efforts I have come down with the cold that the rest of the household has been suffering from for the past week. Having applied five coats of varnish to the cupboard under the sink the oven was just slid in, wired up to the 12V dc system to power the internal light and igniter, plumbed into the gas and secured with screws.
First to arrive, just as I was leaving for work, was the table top and leg, though I nearly didn't get table top. The courier had the leg in his cab and came to the door with it, and it was only when I pointed out that his handheld device was asking me to sign for two parcels that he went back and looked in the back of his van and found the table top.
Anyway here is a slide show of the year's work.
The only task in the van tonight was to get a coat of varnish on those areas which received less than five coats over the weekend and this was completed in reasonable time.
According to their website they were still operating from their Hitchin Site (but this has now changed), but searching the web it appears that they were just closed down by the owner of the group supposedly on a whim, but how true that is I have no idea.
Now I realize that we are only on Day 212 of ownership of the van but the van conversion project had a false start, a duff van and a court case before we bought the Crafter. Thus the insurance policy which was started for the first van and transferred to the Crafter expires in mid-October date.
Whilst the picture does not show a huge amount being completed in the van (partly because I ran short of timber) a lot of time was spent drawing full size templates in order to get the joints and angles and the lengths of the timber sorted out before a single cut was made.
This proved easier said than done due to the complex curves of the alarm sensor housing and the cut out for the CBE PC100 control panel.
Still today as a result of getting my hair cut we were up out and back from shopping before 10:00am; I hate waiting for hours at the barbers and thus wasting my Saturday so I try and get there for 7:30am when Shelley opens up. This morning despite arriving 10minutes early I was second in the queue.
The first job was to measure up the exterior position of the windows. I had a drawing when cut the holes way back at Easter, but this was only an indicative drawing, the final position of the windows was tweaked to match the van panels and internal ribbing, but I need a more accurate drawing for the van graphics.
Saturday was almost a total right off as I didn't manage to get much more than an hours work done on the van. Sunday was a bit better, but I ended up having to make a 1hour excursion to B&Q in Stevenage to pickup a new profile router bit as I had another bearing explode on me.
The first job of the morning was to cut and install the last piece of wall lining and within little over an hour it as glued and tacked in place and drying.
